MBS Communications, LLC was founded in 2009 on the belief that marketing doesn’t have to be complicated. Small business and non-profit organizations should have additional, affordable options when choosing how to spread their word.
Hi, I’m Mary Shetler. I decided to use my broad background in instructional design, writing, editing, video production and web development to assist entrepreneurs, small businesses and non-profit organizations with their communication needs.
Over the years, I’ve worked on a variety of marketing and training programs for business & industry in Eastern Iowa/Western Illinois, including: Nielsen’s Clearing House, Modern Woodmen of America, DuPont, St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Beeline, Jane Lamb Health Center, Hawkeye Chemical, and the River City Chamber of Commerce.
After receiving my Masters in Instructional Design & Technology from the University of Iowa, I was employed by AlliedSignal (Honeywell) Aerospace in Phoenix, AZ. During my tenure at AlliedSignal, I worked in Technical Training and Public Affairs where I wrote numerous training & marketing video scripts, brochures, newsletters, press releases, and speeches for all management levels.
While stepping away from the workforce to raise my daughters, I welcomed the opportunity to volunteer for numerous community organizations utilizing my communications background along the way.
In 2008, a twist of fate brought my family back to Iowa. Believing in the philosophy that “there’s no better time than now to follow your instincts and create your own opportunity,” I decided to apply my communications skills to help grow other small businesses and non-profit organizations.
